Ok first off
HEY EVERYONE ON DEVIANTART
lol this is my first journal entry on here.
Ever since i was 5 i've always wanted to be an artist, when i hit my teens i got pushed and pulled in every which way into more jobs then i can count that i absolutely hated.
that was when i returned to my old highschool in early 2009 to pick up some artwork i had left there, Now this stuff was really rubbish but it got me thinking.
the final thing that pushed me into wanting to be an artist again was an old teacher of mine who as i left Angmering school after having picked up my work stopped me in my tracks.
he asked me how i was doing in life and if i was working, you know the usual, so when i explained everything to him he picked out one of my more decent pieces of artwork from the stack in my arms and studied it carefully before finally handing it back to me. what he said next i have never forgotten.
he said to me
"What i see here is a man who knows what he loves but has lost his way, Remember that no matter what you do in life, Make sure you enjoy it. or it all just seems pointless!"
those were his exact words and it got me to thinking, so i took my art home and went through it along with numerous other folders of old art and as i looked through my old work my passion for Art was Awakened once again.
and from then on I've been painting one picture after another trying to make something of it, most of those painting were half tries and arent up on deviantart and probably never will be lol
but as i got more of a feel for what i wanted on the canvas, my art got better.
i knew i could really make a go of it when i was walking through my local town with an unfinished canvas painting, a random stranger walked up to me and immediatly inquired on how much i wanted for the unfinished painting, i told him it wasnt finished yet and he just calmly asked if i knew when it would be finished, i told him it wouldnt take me more then an hour to finish it and he immediatly asked me what i wanted for te finished version, i told him "I don't know, what are you willing to pay for it?" he responded that he would pay £80 for the finished version and since then on i actually saw it as a job that i enjoyed.
My painting still aren't amazing but i know that thats ok, i'm always getting better and their are people out there who like them as they are and are willing to buy them.
